Preparing for Elf on the Shelf

So I have been doing a long term sub job since the beginning of November.  It is for a Special Education teacher and I am working Pre - K to Second Grade.  I am co - teaching with one of the First grade teachers who just happens to be one of my best friends and we have worked together off and on for a long time.

We have been planning together for a couple of weeks.  We have been wanting to doing a Gingerbread unit for the month of December.  Which I will include more on that later as I spend more time in the classroom but the end project for that is a play that the students write themselves.

On top of that we are doing Elf on the Shelf but we are doing a twist on it.  One of the parents in the class was going to do it at her school but she was not able to so she is letting us use hers.  So now we have two different elves.  We have turned them into twin girls.  So now Elf # 458 and Elf # 459 are joining the Bear Bungalow.

So today after school we packed up one of the elves because we are still waiting on the other elf to arrive because the box came empty from the company.  So tomorrow afternoon are friends are going to join the room.  Elf # 458 will come out of the box but we will let the students think that Elf # 459 escaped into the classroom and is not ready to been seen.  However, she is still watching the class.  While we wait for them to resend the elf this time.

Inside the box right now is Elf # 458, an ornament (to hang on the class tree), a letter for the class, and some magic Christmas powder (glitter).

I am going to post all the fun that the elves have in the classroom over the next couple of weeks.  I will also post about how the students respond.

Tomorrow we will be naming the elves even with the one missing.  The students will be choosing and voting on the names.

The top of the box all ready for tomorrow.

Where Elf # 459 escaped from the box and is hiding in the room. (While we wait for it to come in the mail.)

Missing

So I am sorry for missing from here for a while. I did not set any goals for March. I just knew that the month would be too crazy (which it has been.) I will post this weekend with my goals for the month of April and some other updates in my life plus some craft things and teaching ideas.

Rant

Ok so i am warning right now. This whole post is going to be a rant.

I need to move asap. I need money to move which is why I am still living at home and being treated like I am in high school.

My parents keep nagging me on everything and then also about what time I come home from things. I just need to have a break. I am thinking about going out and seeing The Hunger Games over spring break just so I can get a break from them.

It has been about everything lately. From when I coming home from work or if I am going to be home for dinner. When I answer the first one with I don't know then why do you think that I am going to be home for dinner. It has been about when I am going to do laundry. This last straw was tonight when I was getting asked yet again about when I was going to get my room clean . Granted I could have been working on it tonight but I decided to relax because I have to work all day tomorrow.

But yesterday she told me I had to have it done by Sunday and now she is getting on me about not having time to get it done. When I say that I am going to do something I am going to do it. She was like you will be tired when you get home from work tomorrow. I was like I will have plenty of time to get my room clean before Sunday.

I'm Back

Sorry for not posting all week. The rest of the week was crazy. I was not able to get any pictures taken last week. That will be starting up again today.

I still have not started working out yet. I have been busy and sick so I am trying to get better before I start working out. Hopefully this week it be a better week for that.

I am off today from both jobs. Yeah!!!!! The rest of the week is half days for the school system. This will give me more time to get some things done.

I need to start looking into things that I need to make or get for the long term sub job. I also need to work in some craft things for this coming year like cards and some other crafts that I have put on Pinterest. I hope to be posting pictures this through out the week.

Day 2: January 9

Love the snow falling while I was teaching at 3:30 this afternoon. The students were jumping up and down because it was snowing (even though they had outdoor recess while it was snowing earlier in the day.

Day 1: January 8

So there was too much fun at the Revolution Children's Team Meeting for just one picture for yesterday. These are my top Three Favorites:

Week 1:

This week has been crazy. School started back up which meant that I'm back to working two jobs. My work schedule at the one job stays the same unless I change it. My school schedule changes daily, sometimes I am lucky to get the same school two days in a row (which I love and makes my life so much easier).

I cancelled all of my workouts this week. I feel like I am getting sick and I have needed to have a week where I got back into the swing of things with both jobs. Workouts start tomorrow.

My eating this past week has been ok. It has not been great. We had a church breakfast on Sunday which had a ton of good food and then I have been getting really hungry in the afternoon which is not normal for me.

Coming week:

Work Monday through Friday subbing
Work Tuesday night, Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday at the value
Start working out
Start tracking what I eat
Finish The Magician's Nephew
Make Cards
Post pictures daily

Did not get to photos daily for this past week I am starting on Sunday.

2012

So it is a new year and I have a lot to be thankful for coming out of 2011.

~ I was able to complete my first 10K and then following that by finishing my first Half Marathon in October. I also raised $1869.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. I did the race in memory of my Grandmother and in honor of a wonderful friend Kathy Dalby.

~ I started to go to a new church back in the beginning of February. I have grown in my relationship with Christ through this new church. I have made tons of wonderful friends that I know that I can call when ever I need them. I have also gotten to reconnect to old friends. I was baptized in April after becoming a member of the Church. I have a great small group that I go to once a week and then hang out with friends from church at least once a month on the weekends. There is a great group of women that I can connect with and I feel like I belong.

~ I left a job that I was not enjoying and started a new job that is different. I did not ever see myself working at a hardware store but it is fun at times. I have made some good friends and I have fun when we work together. I have also started subbing again for Anne Arundel County. I have fallen in love with teaching again through. I have also gotten a long - term job at the school that I love. I'm so excited to be able to look forward to this in the spring.

~ I have been able to welcome a new little (even though he is not little any more) bundle of joy into the family in 2011. He decided to join us 3 weeks earlier but I love him all the same. He is loved by his whole family and his aunt. He is adored by his two older sisters. I love all three of my little munchkins (nicknames from here on out: Annie: Ladybug; Gracie: Maemae; Roan: Mr. Fussy).

Goals for 2012:

1. Run 3 or 4 times a week
2. Yearly Mileage: 1,000 miles
3. Eat healthier and keep track of what I eat
4. Lose 50 lbs
5. Take a picture a day
6. Make a card at least twice a week
7. Follow through with the ESV Study Bible Plan to read the Bible in a year
8. Read 50 books
