Preparing for Elf on the Shelf

So I have been doing a long term sub job since the beginning of November.  It is for a Special Education teacher and I am working Pre - K to Second Grade.  I am co - teaching with one of the First grade teachers who just happens to be one of my best friends and we have worked together off and on for a long time.

We have been planning together for a couple of weeks.  We have been wanting to doing a Gingerbread unit for the month of December.  Which I will include more on that later as I spend more time in the classroom but the end project for that is a play that the students write themselves.

On top of that we are doing Elf on the Shelf but we are doing a twist on it.  One of the parents in the class was going to do it at her school but she was not able to so she is letting us use hers.  So now we have two different elves.  We have turned them into twin girls.  So now Elf # 458 and Elf # 459 are joining the Bear Bungalow.

So today after school we packed up one of the elves because we are still waiting on the other elf to arrive because the box came empty from the company.  So tomorrow afternoon are friends are going to join the room.  Elf # 458 will come out of the box but we will let the students think that Elf # 459 escaped into the classroom and is not ready to been seen.  However, she is still watching the class.  While we wait for them to resend the elf this time.

Inside the box right now is Elf # 458, an ornament (to hang on the class tree), a letter for the class, and some magic Christmas powder (glitter).

I am going to post all the fun that the elves have in the classroom over the next couple of weeks.  I will also post about how the students respond.

Tomorrow we will be naming the elves even with the one missing.  The students will be choosing and voting on the names.

The top of the box all ready for tomorrow.

Where Elf # 459 escaped from the box and is hiding in the room. (While we wait for it to come in the mail.)
